Our Story

Miami Beach Performing Arts (formerly KO Performing Arts) is the leading training center for musical theater, singing lessons, acting classes for kids, and after-school performing arts programs. In partnership with the City of Miami Beach Community and Youth Programming, we provide high-quality arts education that inspires creativity, confidence, and professional-level skill development.

Founded in 2022 by professional singer and educator Kelly O’Shea, MBPA was built to give young performers access to the kind of performance-based training she experienced growing up. Our mission is to shape the next generation of well-rounded musical theater artists through accessible, exciting, and expert-led classes. Watch video to learn all about MBPA!

Before joining theater my daughter was shy and hesitant to speak up, let alone perform on stage. Thanks to the nurturing and supportive environment created by the instructors, we've seen an incredible transformation. My daughter has opened up and found a creative outlet she loves. By the end of this season she was performing with confidence and joy. My once shy, timid child now looked forward to signing up for extra events to perform! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a positive, growth-filled activity for their child!

Ms Kelly is running a wonderful performing arts program for kids of all ages. We loved all her classes, from summer camps to musical theatre full productions! Do not hesitate to enroll your child that loves to sing, dance, act, or all of the above!

My daughter absolutely loved every class—from summer camps to full-scale musical theatre productions! If your child loves to sing, dance, act, or all of the above, I highly recommend enrolling them. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been a part of KO Performing Arts for the past 2 years and I truly believe this is the best environment for a young performer to be in and to hone this craft. I was Cady Heron in KOPA’s Mean Girls production in 2024 and Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! 2025; from the very first rehearsal to the final bows of each show, I’ve grown so much not only as a performer, but as a person. Throughout performances, rehearsals, and private lessons, I’ve been pushed out of my comfort zone, challenged, encouraged, and constantly inspired. Much of this growth is owed to the guidance and unwavering support of two of the most incredible directors, Kelly O’Shea and Brittni Taylor Rhodes. Their dedication to their craft and to their students is simply unmatched. They see the potential in every performer and know how to bring it out with care and professionalism. The rehearsals, MainStage shows, showcases, etc. are all surrounded with love, passion, and fun from each performer and it’s so touching to be around people that truly love what they do and have fun doing it. This company has truly become a second home for me, a place where I’m not only seen, but where I’ve discovered how to truly be seen on stage. I’m eternally grateful for the experiences, the lessons, and the memories.
